Ugo Marchand

Ugo Marchand is a staff data engineer at Cloud Ex Machina and holds a PhD in signal processing. He has spent his career turning messy signals into something meaningful for a human: how much a jazz recording swings, the early markers of heart-valve disease, the daily numbers of hundreds of restaurants. A cloud bill is the same problem with money attached: billions of line items a month, where the number you can safely commit to is anything but obvious. At Cloud Ex Machina, he builds the AI pipeline that finds savings opportunities across an estate and backs them with numbers. He also built the models behind the commitment blog series, tested against real eight-figure AWS bills. The part he enjoys most is the moment he makes a complicated thing starts to look simple.
